AvMed, a division of Sentara Health Plans in the Florida market, is hiring a Registered Dietitian in Gainesville or Miami, Florida. This is a hybrid position, 2 days in office and 3 days remote.


Scope of Position: Responsible for providing comprehensive nutritional assessment and counseling/education for members with specific chronic conditions to promote nutritional health, recognizing food and nutrition play a crucial role in health promotion.

Essential Job Functions:

Outreaches to referred members to assess members nutritional health and to provide education and problem resolution; assesses members benefits to ensure awareness of coverage.
Develops strategic plans with the member and/or caregiver to promote adherence and collaboration of nutritional plan, to achieve favorable outcomes.
Develops and maintains a communication schedule to evaluate members progress to goals and facilitate ongoing education concerning nutrition.
Serves as liaison between disease management case managers, providers, and the member and/or caregiver to promote optimal nutrition.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors in Dietetics
Currently Licensed Registered Dietitian in the state of Florida.
Board Certified Specialist in one of the recognized ADA/NATCO/NBNSC specialty certifications: Cert Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Renal Nutrition (CSR); Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP); Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG); Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO), Certified Sports Dietitian (CSSD) and Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD). If Bachelor's Degree is in major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics.
2 years of Dietitian experience
3 to 5 years of Experience in nutritional counseling and assessment, health coaching or health promotion
Bilingual English/ Spanish

Preferred Requirements:
Effective motivational interviewing skills required.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects without additional resources or support
Ability to develop presentations and present to large groups and stakeholders
Ability to think creatively
Ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills - oral and written
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others
A passion for wellness and health promotion
Certification in Diabetes education preferred

Job Summary

Responsible for managing patient's medical nutrition therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards for high risk patients. Serves as a resource for nutrition education.
